The Details

Since 1976, the Interfaith Community Breakfast has become one of the most popular annual events in the Waterloo Region that celebrates our diverse religious and spiritual traditions.

Each year, the breakfast is attended by hundreds of community leaders and other people from throughout the region in the spirit of friendship, fellowship, and community. Past keynote speakers have include Hon. Elizabeth Witmer, Hon. John Sweeney, Dr. David Johnston, Howard Dyck CM, and many others.

Originally sponsored by the Cities of Kitchener and Waterloo, the breakfast is now hosted by Interfaith Grand River, a grass-roots community organization that started in the shadow of 9/11 and continues today to promote and exemplify interfaith and intercultural respect, understanding and trust.

The theme for the 2018 breakfast is "Caring for our Common Home: Climate Change and Faith," presented by Dr. Hind A. Al-Abadleh, professor of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Wilfrid Laurier University and the director of the Al-Abadleh Research Group for Multiphase Environmental Physical Chemistry.
